Women swindle restaurant's cashier

This story appeared in the newspaper today:

FARMINGTON – Police are alerting businesses of a duo who distract cashiers by asking for change for large bills.

Farmington Public Safety officers were called to the Ram's Horn Restaurant at 32435 Grand River Avenue about 6:50 p.m. Jan. 4 to investigate a report of two women who swindled a cashier out of money.

The store manager reported that the two women entered the store and asked for a menu so that they could order carryout food.

Shortly after reviewing the menu, the women told the cashier that they had changed their minds and did not want to order food.

Instead, they asked to purchase some candy from the display.

One woman purchased candy and then began asking to make change for larger bills.

The cashier said that numerous bills were handed back and forth while the woman continually changed her mind on which denominations she wanted in return.

The women also distracted the cashier by complimenting her hairstyle.

Once the women left, the cashier had a feeling that she had been swindled.

One suspect is described as a black woman, age 20-30, 5 feet 5 inches, 160 pounds and shoulder-length hair. The other is a black woman, age 30-35, 5 feet 9 inches and 300 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Detective Shane Wash with Farmington Public Safety at (248) 474-5500, ext. 240.

The report said $150 was missing. What?! $150! How do you screw that up! "I need change for a fifty, could you please give me three twenty's? Thanks." Seriously. Speaking of $150, someone also threw a rock through the front door of a Subway and stole all of the money out of the cash register- $150. Is that what the world has come to? People are going to risk going to jail or worse for $150? Sad times indeed.
