Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket Review

I recently visited Universal Studios Florida where we rode the new Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster. This beast takes you straight up 167 feet before dropping you through a course full of nifty elements all to the tune of a soundtrack that you pick. The ride definitely sounds good and it looks even better but how is the actual ride experience? Well, let me begin by saying what kind of attractions I prefer. I adore rides with loads of airtime. Voyage, Diamondback, and Apollo’s Chariot are among my favorites with their huge amounts of weightlessness. HRRR had almost none. As you might have guessed my reaction to experiencing the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was just ehh. HRRR fills some major needs of Universal Studios but falls short in the actual ride experience.

Harry Potter Construction Update

Coaster101 recently visited Universal’s Island of Adventure Theme Park and we caught a glimpse of construction on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter land debutting in 2010. The new major attraction takes place inside Hogwarts Castle which is a massive structure. Take a look at these pictures and video from November 7th, 2009. Can’t wait to go back to experience the finished product!

I Made the 3D Via Top Ten Models!

The best models uploaded to 3DVIA.com during the week of Saturday, November 1st through Friday, November 7th are highlighted here. Your band now has both a scary guitar, a snare drum and a really cool set of towers to play in, but will the Abstract Propeller and the Flummox Roller Coaster keep the repo men distracted long enough for you to move the Camaro and Sunbeam somewhere safe. You better hope that the Army truck is finished being lined-up on the jig so you've got some back up on the way…otherwise you may end up making friends with the smiley guy in the hearse. Check it out! (Mine is the Flummox roller coaster in case you did not know).
